Why to visit Sita Ki Rasoi
Sita ki Rasoi is not just a kitchen; it’s a temple within the Ram Mandir complex in the north-western part of Ram Janmabhoomi. Sita ki Rasoi is believed to be an ancient kitchen used by goddess Sita herself. It’s now a temple near Ram Janmabhoomi showcasing old vessels. One of the two kitchens is dedicated to Mata Sita.
It is said that Mata Sita once fed five sages here and earned the title of ‘Annapurna Mata’. Thus, the temple follows this tradition by giving free food. Visitors are welcome to make charitable donations at this temple.
What to Expect?
When visiting the temple you’re going to see the following things:
- The kitchen is built in the traditional Hindu style, with a spacious ground floor with a central raised platform.
- Inside the kitchen, there are idols of Lord Ram, Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughan, as well as Sita, Urmila, Mandvi and Shrutikriti.
- You’ll find special items such as rolling pins and plates on display.
- Next to the kitchen, there’s a place called Janaki Kund. It’s a very sacred spot as Sita used to bathe there.
