Why to visit Ram Katha Park
Ram Katha Park in Ayodhya is a scenic park with open air-theaters and neatly maintained lawns. Extending across a large area, it serves as a favoured location for devotional programs, cultural shows, religious events including katha recitals, dance, and poetry. On days without events, this park transforms into a play area / picnic spot for children or relaxing garden for adults.
What to Expect?
At Ram Katha Park, you can see the following wonders:
- A memorial of the Korean Queen Heo Hwang-ok was installed inside the park in 2001.
- A granite egg symbolizing the golden egg she carried on her journey is also placed here.
- A special monument was constructed when India and South Korea agreed to make Gimhae and Ayodhya sister cities.
The Story behind it’s Existence
Ayodhya, the birthplace of Shri Ram, sees a lot of visitors year-round. With numerous temples, ghats, and historical sites, the increasing crowds lead to issues like congestion, especially during festivals. Ram Katha Park was created to relieve pressure on these sacred spots and the city's centre.
