Why to visit Mani Parvat
Mani Parvat, situated in Kami Ganj, Ayodhya, is a small hillock with great religious significance. It is approximately at a height of 65 ft. above sea level. It gives a great view of Ayodhya from atop the hill to the visitors and there are many temples to worship. There is another hilltop named Sugriv Parvat nearby.

The name “Mani Parvat” means “Gem Hill”. Legend says that this hill was made from gems brought from Janakpur after the marraige of Shri Ram and his brothers— Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughan. The word “Mani” means “gem”, highlighting the preciousness of the hill. It’s also called the “Lila Sthali” (playground) of Goddess Sita Devi.

Other Religion Connection
Mani Parvat has a link to Lord Buddha. It’s said that he stayed in Ayodhya for six years, teaching the Law of Dharma from this hill. There’s a stupa built by Emperor Ashoka and a Buddhist Monastery. Also, at the foothills of Mani Parvat, there is an Islamic mausoleum.
