Why to visit Mawphlang

Mawphlang is the name of a hamlet in the Khasi Hills that is called after one of the Khasi Hills' monoliths. Mawphlang, which meaning Grassy Stone (Maw phlang), is a region of legends, sacrifices, and a distinct culture. Mawphlang is the place to go if you want a glimpse of the Khasi tradition, culture, and way of life that is vanishing in the contemporary world. The Khasi Heritage Village, located in Mawphlang, was constructed to represent the Khasi Tribes' traditional lifestyle. The monolith has been preserved to provide travellers with an introduction to the Khasi Tribes and their way of life in the midst of nature.

Special Tip

Do attend the Monolith Festival usually held in March.
