Tung fort is a beautiful site in Maharashtra, India, encircled by vast tropics and located at an incredible height of 1075 metres above sea level. The fort is well-known for its beautiful views and thrilling excursions. The word "Tung" means "difficult," and getting to this historic fort is certainly a challenge. Aside from that, the location is ideal for a family picnic or camping.

Furthermore, the fort's peaky and circular construction makes it a visible attraction from afar. Visitors can have a beautiful view of the sparkling Pawna Lake, Tikona, and Visapur forts from the top of the fort. Visitors can relax after their climb by visiting the Tungi Devi or Ganpati temples. 

It is also called as 'Kathingad,' which means 'hard to climb.' It has been described as an ordinary trek, however rookies should be guided by an experienced climber.

Pune International Airport is the closest airport. The nearest railway station to Tung Fort is Lonavla Railway Station which is 24 kilometres distant. Hire a car/taxi to travel from Lonavla to Tungwadi via Bhushi Dam and Peth Shahapur. Tungwadi is the starting point for treks to Tung Fort. Take a bus to Gausalkhamb from Bhamburde or Ambavne village. From Gausalkhamb you must travel to Tungwadi (8km).

Camping at Pawana Lake: Pawna Lake has grown into an amazing spot for camping making it the ideal option to spend your weekend. Camping here is a must with the clean and well-maintained surroundings topped with an incredible view of the lake and the dense tropics surrounding it.

There are like no ATMs in the walking distance nearby so the trekker should carry enough amount of cash and there is almost zero cellular coverage in the area.
