Why to visit Tiger Leap

The Tiger's Leap viewpoint is about 8 kilometres from Lonavala and is a popular tourist destination. It is a clifftop with a sheer drop of more than 650 metres that provides a panoramic view of the hills and Western Ghats. On a clear day, it is known for its spectacular dawn and sunset views.

The name Tiger's Leap was given to this location because of the shape's resemblance to that of a tiger leaping into the valley. This viewpoint, which offers a beautiful view of the valley below, is only a short distance from INS Shivaji. The breathtaking views should, however, be viewed from a safe location rather than from the cliff's edge.

Tiger's Leap viewpoint lies on the Bhooshi dam or INS Shivaji route. After crossing Lonavala bus stand, drive till next junction at Kumar resort. Take a left turn and proceed straight till you come across very 1st right T junction. Take right turn then the road is straight till Tiger Point passing Lonavala Lake, Bhooshi Dam & INS Shivaji.
