The fort, which stands at a height of 923 metres above sea level and is the only one of its sort in town, is thought to have been built around 1500 BC. Peth Shahpur, about 1 kilometre from the fort, is the closest settlement.

How to reach the fort ?

Koregad is situated in a relatively isolated area away from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis. Because there are few public transportation choices available ahead of Lonavala it is better if you have a private vehicle to get here. From Lonavala take the Aamby Valley path until you reach Peth Shahpur hamlet. Once you've arrived in the village park your car and walk up the hill. In Peth Shahpur beside the bus stop there is paid parking.

What is the best time to visit this fort?

The monsoon season is thought to be the best time to visit the fort. Because the lakes at the top of the fort dry up during the summer

Special Tip

If you're hiking during the day, wear light clothing. If you plan on staying the night, bring some woollens because it might become chilly at night.
