Spring (April- June)

The northern islands have gentler weather, with temperatures ranging from 5 to 29 degrees Celsius. Temperatures in the center-south islands range from 11 to 31 degrees Celsius. With a few outliers in the north, most of Greece is pleasant and sunny. Apart from the lovely weather, Orthodox Easter celebrations are something else to look forward to in the springtime.

Summer (July- August)

Greece's summer temperature varies from 15 to 32°C in the north to 21 to 33°C in the center and south. Summers in Greece are hot and humid, with rain showers on occasion. On the mainland, the mixture of heat and humidity creates oppressive conditions. The cold sea air, on the other hand, cools the heat in coastal locations and on islands.Summer is the busiest season for travel. Greece has their yearly vacation in August. As a result, the locals are flocking to join the visitors. All tourist sites and events are fully booked, and the nation comes alive with festivities.

Autumn (September-October)

As Autumn arrives, temperatures in the north range from 8 to 27°C, while in the south they range from 15 to 29°C. Despite the fact that it stays hot until mid-September, October is a much more enjoyable month. If you want to enjoy the ideal Greek weather without the throng, autumn is the season for you. Despite the pleasant weather, Greece is strangely devoid of visitors. This allows you to take your time and enjoy Greek hospitality at your leisure. If you want to go to one of the cultural events, get your tickets ahead of time. It's also worth noting that certain islands may be closed for the winter.

Thousands of islands make up Greece

Thousands of other gorgeous islands make up Greece. Up to 6,000 islands and islets are thought to exist in Greece, with just around 200 of them being populated.

Every year, more visitors visit Greece than the whole Greek population

It's no surprise that Greece is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the world. But did you realise that Greece attracts nearly 17 million visitors each year? That is nearly twice the population of Greece. It's one of the few countries in the world with a visitor population that exceeds its own (along with Malta, Cyprus and Luxembourg).

Santorini's beaches come in a variety of colours

Santorini has beaches that are black, white, and red. Santorini's remarkable volcanic heritage is responsible for the island's dark beaches. The beaches are made up of black sand and stones, which become quite treacherous when wet! If you go too far into the water, you can end up drowning!

In Greece, there are about 4,000 traditional dances

There's sure to be some dancing in Greece with all those dramatic sets. Indeed, the Greeks are so fond of dancing that there are over 4,000 recognized traditional dances in the country. They come from all across the nation, so during your vacation to Greece, you'll be sure to find somewhere to kick up your feet.

Language

The main language of Greece is Greek, which is spoken by the great majority of the country's 10.7 million inhabitants. Macedonian (also known as "Slav-Macedonian" in Greece), Albanian (spoken in the centre and south), Turkish (spoken by Muslim groups surrounding the Aegean), Arumanian, and Bulgarian are the other languages communicated.

Literacy Rate

According to UNESCO, Greece has a 97.94 percent adult literacy rate. The male literacy rate is 98.51 percent, while the female literacy rate is 97.39 percent. In comparison to the rest of the world, it ranks 45th in terms of literacy rate.

By Bus

Long-distance buses operated by KTEL travel the length and breadth of the Greek islands on a regular basis. Local bus services, on the other hand, handle transport within a city or hamlet. Although most cities and villages receive regular service, some remote regions may only get it once or twice a week.

By Subway

Greece's railway network links the larger cities, but it is not as extensive as the country's road network. In Greece, a Eurail Global Pass is acceptable and can be used on the country's suburban network as well.

By Ferry

Domestic ferries run frequently between islands and are a practical and cost-effective mode of transportation.
