Why to visit Zákynthos
Zakynthos (also known as Zante) is a lush island with rich valleys and a mild temperature (area: 406 sq. km; coastline: 123 km). The island's landscape diversity has resulted in a variety of beaches: sandy beaches in hidden coves with calm waves in the southeastern portion of the island; nevertheless, if jagged cliffs and a fascinating undersea environment are more your style, then to the western section of the island.
Zákynthos is known as "Fioro di Levante" (flower of the East) by the Venetians, who ruled the island from 1484 to 1797. Zákynthos has over 7,000 species of flowers. After Corfu and Kefalonia, the third largest island in the Ionian Sea is referred to as "Zante." Zakynthos is credited as being the island's first settler, and the old acropolis is named for him. He was the son of Dardanos, the king of Frigia in antiquity. Later on, a Venetian fort was built on the site.
Crete is located on the Aegean Sea's southern coast and caters to travellers searching for a relaxing beach vacation. It also has a plethora of historic sites, many of which are architectural marvels from the past that appeal to history aficionados.
