Why to visit Santorini

Everything in Santorini is gorgeous, from the churches with their many bells to the charming whitewashed dwellings, from the flowers adorning the balconies to the cathedrals with their blue domes. The island has a beautiful volcanic terrain, pure black sand beaches, charming secret coves, and stunning sunsets, creating an ethereal ambiance.

Ascending the 587 stairs from Skala, the little old harbour, to Thira's city, you can witness the ruins of a historic volcanic explosion that caused the island's centre to collapse into the sea. Thira is a lovely town with a variety of stores and restaurants where you may refresh yourself. Visit the archaeological museum or the Catholic and Greek Orthodox cathedrals to learn more about the city's history.

While Santorini's natural beauty and architecture are unrivalled, the island also offers a variety of water sports. Because the waters surrounding the island are filled with marine life, you can go snorkelling or scuba diving here. If diving underwater isn't your thing, you can rent jet boats and jet skis. Kitesurfing and windsurfing are accessible for adrenaline junkies who want to catch a stunning perspective of Santorini.

Special Tip

If you're in town and searching for a fantastic restaurant to make your stay unforgettable, head to Aktaion Restaurant for Mediterranean flavours and twisted Greek delicacies that will please any palate! Santorini is best visited between September and October, and April and May, when the weather is nice and the visitors are few.
