Why to visit Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary

Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary is a pleasure for nature lovers, known for its Lion and Deer Safari. A crocodile farm and an elephant rehabilitation centre are located within the park.

There is a lot of natural greenery in this sanctuary. The sanctuary's flora diversity makes it an ideal gene pool preservation. The tiger, leopard, sloth bear, elephant, sambar, barking deer, bonnet macaque.Nilgiri langur, and Nilgiri tahr are among the mammals found here only in India . The sanctuary is home to 176 species of birds, 30 species of reptiles, 17 species of amphibians, and 40 species of fish.

Outside the sanctuary area, about 1 kilometre west of Neyyar Dam, lies the administrative complex of the Neyyar Complex Wildlife Sanctuary, which includes an information centre, staff quarters, a rest house, and a youth hostel. The sanctuary provides visitors with the opportunity to visit the lion park.

Special Tip

The animals are quite aggressive if encountered closely or provoked. Please do not litter the area, if caught penalty is charged.
