Why to visit Agasthyakoodam
With an elevation of 1868 metres, Agastyakoodam, also known as Agastya Mala Peak, is Kerala's second highest peak. Agastyakoodam is part of the Agasthyamala Biosphere Reserve and is located within the Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary. It has a surreal natural beauty. The summit is nestled in the Sahyadris of the Western Ghats, and its slopes are carpeted in purple orchids. The region is a hub for avifauna and unusual birds, with a rich fauna and unique medicinal herb species.
Birdwatchers flock to the area since it is a refuge for them. Furthermore, because it is a protected area, you may observe nature at its most natural state, free of commercial intrusion. The massive summit is also a popular Hindu pilgrimage destination for worshippers of the Hindu sage Agastya, after whom the mountain is called. At the summit, there is a statue of him where Hindus can perform puja and worship.
