Why to visit Attukal Bhagavathy Temple

Trivandrum's Attukal Bhagavathy Temple is one of the most well-known temples in the country. One of the numerous reasons for its popularity is that it set a Guinness World Record when over 37 lakh women served pongala at the temple at the same time, making it the site of the world's largest gathering of women for a religious activity.

Many people have described visiting the great temple and worshipping to Attukal Devi as a life-changing event. According to legend, the goddess bestows progeny, health, riches, and a prosperous life on her believers. The temple's Attukal Pongala Festival is a big hit in the south, and the residents are looking forward to it. Tourists and devotees from all over the world flock to Trivandrum during the festival season to see the cheerful and colourful festivities.

Special Tip

It is preferable to visit the Attukal Bhagavathy Temple between February and March if you want to witness the extravagant Pongalam festival and feel its electric spirit. There are many street foods just a little far from the main gate of the temple. They are damn delicious.
