Why to visit Sela Pass

Apart from its historical significance, Sela Pass is a breathtaking location that is always covered in snow and offers stunning views of the eastern Himalayan range. The Sela Lake, one of Arunachal's most stunning lakes, is located on the rocky pass. To access Sela Pass, an inner line permit is required due to the delicate nature of the area.

The Sela pass and the Sela lake, which are located at an elevation of 4170 metres, serve as a gateway to Arunachal Pradesh and serve to inform visitors about the treasures that await them within the state. When standing at Sela Pass, gazing into the icy Sela Lake, one cannot help but be awestruck by the Himalayas. Sela pass is located around 80 kilometres from Tawang city and is an excellent area to stop and rest while appreciating the beauty of the surrounds.

How to reach the place ?

Nearest airport is at Guwahati which is 480 km from Tawang and is well connected to all major cities of the country. One can hire a car or catch a bus till Tezpur for further journey till Tawang .Nearest rail head is at Tezpur. Tezpur is well connected to Tawang and Bomdila by road and one can hail a Tata Suma or a bus till Bomdila or Tawang.

Special Tip

Very high temperatures in the region during most months means one needs to carry high altitude clothing, especially during winters. Protect yourself from frost bites by keeping yourself warm at all times.Avoid heavy eating just before the hike towards the pass.
