Why to visit Palaruvi Waterfalls

One of the top attractions in Kutrallam, or Courtallam as some prefer to name it, Tamil Nadu, is the 300-foot-high Palaruvi Falls. It is our country's 32nd-highest fall in terms of height. In the local tongue, Palaruvi means "Stream of Milk."

The captivating falls have gained notoriety for their extraordinary curative abilities. People go great distances just to bathe in the healing waters of the fall. It sees a lot of foot traffic during the busiest time of year (July-October). You must wait for hours to enter the freshwater pool during these months due to its high popularity. Additionally, some Ayurvedic Doctors suggest these herbal liquids to their patients as a means of healing sickness. The water here has a miraculous healing quality since it has passed through an area where medicinal herbs are grown.

The Travancore monarchs constructed a palace by the falls in Kollam during the 17th century to get away from the oppressive heat of the sun. As the years went by, they began to believe that the area was cursed with bad fortune and negativity. Whether it was superstition or not, they went to the falls at Palaruvi Falls in Kutrallam because they believed in it. A stable and other ruins of historic buildings serve as reminders of a bygone era.

The vicinity of the waterfalls has been designated as a plastic-free zone today. Here, all you see is greenery and cleanliness.
