The Shenduruny Wildlife Sanctuary, which is a protected region in the Western Ghats of Kerala's Kollam district, is home to a wide variety of plants, birds, and animals and offers them a safe haven away from the noise and squalor of urban life. The sanctuary was founded on 25 August in 1984 and is presently under the authority of the Agasthyamalai Biosphere Reserve. It's interesting to note that the Shenduruney Wildlife Sanctuary was where the Thenmala Eco-tourism Project, India's first eco-tourism initiative, was developed.
