Why to visit Shenduruny Wildlife Sanctuary
The Shenduruny Wildlife Sanctuary, which is a protected region in the Western Ghats of Kerala's Kollam district, is home to a wide variety of plants, birds, and animals and offers them a safe haven away from the noise and squalor of urban life. The sanctuary was founded on 25 August in 1984 and is presently under the authority of the Agasthyamalai Biosphere Reserve. Since the area is home to countless floral plants, birds, and trees, it is like a treasure trove for all nature lovers, photographers, archaeologists, and scientists. Tourists from all over the country come here to spend money because of the incredible variety of plants and animals that can be seen here.
The sanctuary, which covers 172 square kilometres, is also proud to be the location of an artificial lake with a circumference of the Thenmala Dam reservoir and a size of about 18 square kilometres. The wildlife sanctuary has been the site of some of the earliest and oldest river valley civilisations in the country, some of which were even older than the Indus Valley civilisation, according to specialised archaeological research that were recently carried out here. The location now has an archaeological component because to these discoveries, and the sanctuary's appeal has increased by twofold. It's interesting to note that the Shenduruney Wildlife Sanctuary was where the Thenmala Eco-tourism Project, India's first eco-tourism initiative, was developed.
Of course, visitors to the Shenduruney Wildlife Sanctuary can be seen admiring the gorgeous animals. The area is also full of several gorgeous settings and areas that allow visitors to take some breathtaking images while travelling. Additionally, there are many hiking paths in the region, many of which lead to exciting excursions through evergreen forests. Visitors can also choose to go on a safari to see herds of wild creatures, including bison, deer, and monkeys.
