Why to visit Lake Pichola

One of the most essential places to see in Udaipur is the City Palace. Udaipur is known as the "City of Lakes" because of Lake Pichola. This lake, which is 3 miles long and 2 miles wide and was built in 1362, is an important element of Udaipur and by far its best feature. "If the Venetian owned the Pichola Lake, he might declare with justice,'see it and die,'" Rudyard Kipling famously said, astonished and awestruck by its magnificence. Take Kipling's advice and visit Lake Pichola both during the day and at night when you're in Udaipur. Depending on the time of day, the lake takes on a completely different personality. The lake and palaces are calm in the morning.

Special Tip

Don't eat something near the lake. It is maintained clean.
