Why to visit Marine Aquarium And Museum
Marine Aquarium and Museum is located on Ratnagiri - Bhagwati Mandir Road, near to Mandavi Beach in Ratnagiri Town, at a distance of 2.5 kilometres from Ratnagiri Bus Stand.
The Marine Museum was founded in 1985 by the Ratnagiri Marine Biological Research Station. Sea horse fish, Lion fish, Trigger fish, Sea turtles, Eels, Sea cucumbers, Star fish, Lobsters, Sea Snakes, and other unusual and exquisite specimens can be found in the Marine Museum. This museum also houses a well-preserved and age-old whale skeleton. Everyone who visits this site appreciates the original length of the whale, which was 55 feet long and weighed 5000 kilograms.
A well organised and well-decorated distinct freshwater aquarium section was recently established in response to the increased desire of the general public for aquariums. Along with attractive and fancy-colored fish, one can see locally available freshwater aquatic creatures such as prawns, crabs, turtles, barbs, and aquatic plants in this part.
