Why to visit Devgad Fort
Devgad Fort is a tourist attraction with a breathtaking outlook. The fort is located at the junction of the Arabian Sea and Devgad Creek, providing a breathtaking view of the sea. The fort is famous for the stunning and mysterious sunsets that can be seen from there. The stunning waterfront view is ideal for tourists. Surrounded by nature, this fort is named after Devgad, which is known around the world for producing Alphonso mangoes. Many enthralling scenes may be found around the area, displaying nature at its best.
Attacks from other kings destroyed the fort, but it was eventually repaired and given life by Maratha Chief Kanoji Angre. Tourists are enthralled by the fort's splendour, and the panoramic view of the surrounding area is impossible to overlook. The ramparts and artistically crafted fortifications were built to protect the area's picturesque charm. Because of its strategic location, it was initially employed as a monitoring site.
In 1729, a Marathi Naval Officer named Dattajivraj Angre erected the fort to keep a vigil. After many years of building and a fluctuating workforce, the 120-acre stronghold was completed. The Devgad fort's lighthouse was built in 1915 for the harbour and beach. Another fort, Vijaydurg, 45 minutes from Devgad, was built by Raja Bhola II and is now a national monument. The Maharashtra tourism department now looks after it.
