It is widely regarded as the nerve centre of all watermanship training programmes. Because of the large number of peacocks found nearby, the area is known as Peacock Bay, and it is one of the best places in Pune.

This beautiful bay has everything needed to train the cadets. It has a large selection of seamanship training equipment, sailing boats of various types, speed boats, water skis, whalers, dinghies, windsurfers, and cutters.

The presence of other species such as deer, Lion-tailed monkeys, civets, and so on adds to the beauty of the bay. The lake has a surface area of 501 square kilometres and a depth of 40 to 120 feet.

The bay is well-known for hosting a variety of events, including the annual national inland championship, open lake swimming competitions, and so on.
