Why to visit Tibetan Colony
Bir Tibetan Colony is a Tibetan refugee community in the Himalayan village of Chowgan, which is next to the town of Bir in Himachal Pradesh, India. Chokling Rinpoche founded Bir Tibetan Colony in the early 1960s, following the exile of the Dalai Lama and other Tibetan refugees. The Tibetan colony is known for a variety of handicrafts as well as traditional Tibetan cuisine.
