Why to visit Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium

One of the most popular attractions in Bangalore is the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium (JNP). Every year, thousands of science enthusiasts visit this education centre and museum, drawn by the sky theatre, exhibition hall, science park with 40 displays, breathtaking 3D space shows, and monthly educational programmes.

Main Attractions:

  • Sky Theatre Show: It is a centrally located, air-conditioned structure with a 15-meter hemispherical dome and 210 reclining seats arranged in a uni-directional viewing configuration.

It presents exhibits on historical events, scientific discoveries, tales, cultural features, etc., and it is complemented by music and narration.

The shows are always evolving. On their official website, you can always find the title and a synopsis of the series that are now airing.

  • Science Park: A campus which features more than 40 interactive scientific exhibits that playfully illustrate intricate physics and astronomy concepts.
  • Exhibition Hall: It is known for hosting themed exhibits inspired by the performances taking place in the sky-theatre.

An intriguing piece of art by Mr. Ramamurthy may be found in the hall.

Special Shows:-

  • Know Your Stars: This is a programme that is only broadcast on the first Sunday night of the month.

It is a constellation lecture where attendees can observe the stars using telescopes and try to identify them using the star chart.
