Why to visit Lalita Ghat
Lalita Ghat is one of Varanasi's most important ghats on the Ganges River. The ghat is named after the Hindu Goddess Lalita, and it is home to the well-known Nepali Mandir and the Lalita Gauri Mandi.
On the banks of the revered Ganga, this is one of Varanasi's most well-known ghats. Lalita Ghat is the lengthy section between Raj Rajeshwari Ghat and Vishnu Ghat that is home to several of the most well-known temples in the entire globe.
Highlights of the Lalita Ghat:
- The ghat is home to the Lalita Gauri Mandir, the Ganga Keshava shrine for Lord Vishnu, and a Nepali Mandir.
- The Pashupateshvara figure is housed in the Nepali Mandir, a typical Kathmandu-style temple that also features an elaborate collection of erotic carvings.
- The two-storey Lalita Palace is located next to Lalita Ghat. In the palace, there are a few 18th-century shrines and 12th-century sculptures.
- There are shrines dedicated to other gods as well, including Kashi Devi, Gangatitya, and Bhagirath Tirtha.
Interesting Fact:
There is a statue of Goddess Ganga in the Lalita palace. She is depicted riding a crocodile, which makes her picture pretty fascinating. An intriguing truth is that the idol of the Goddess Ganges is immersed in floodwater every year.

The Lalita Ghat is near to the Manikarnika Ghat. It is only 4 kilometres from Varanasi Railway Station.
