Why to visit Chaubis Khamba Temple

Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh's Chaubis Khamba Temple is a famous shrine. It is one of Ujjain's oldest temples, and one of the city's most popular tourist attractions. It is located near Mahakal Temple.

The temple is dedicated to Chhoti Mata and Badi Mata and is considered a holy site by Hindus. It dates back to the 9th or 10th century. It is an architectural marvel that was constructed during King Vikramaditya's reign. The temple's name comes from the 24 pillars that embellish the temple's structure.

The temple's guardian goddesses, Mahalaya and Mahamaya, are shown at the entrance, with their names written on the temple's stairs. According to legend, this was the great Mahakala-towering Vana's entrance gate.

Shukla Paksha Ashtami and Navratri, the auspicious days of Shukla Paksha Ashtami and Navratri, are celebrated here on a grand scale, attracting a great number of devotees.

Special Tip

For the dignity and spirituality of this shrine, you must dress appropriately. In addition, women should enter the shrine with their heads covered.
