Why to visit National Museum

Its goal is to instil patriotic feelings in Maldivian inhabitants. The museum houses a vast collection of royal antiques dating from the Buddhist and Islamic periods, making it a haven for history and craft enthusiasts.

Everything from former kings and queens' clothing and jewels to cloth and paper documents, ethnographic artefacts, and weaponry and equipment can be found under one roof. The wide range of items reflects the country's rich history. The National Museum of the Maldives is an epitome of knowledge, located in Sultan Park, which was previously a part of Sultan's Palace. Your trip to the Maldives isn't complete until you stop by this cultural site, which is steeped in Maldivian history.

Special Tip

Double check your visiting days as the museum remains closed on Fridays.
