Why to visit Kalika Mata Temple

In Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, the Kalika Mata Temple is an interesting place to visit. The mother goddess Kali, a representation of power, is the object of the temple's dedication. The temple was initially constructed by Bappa Rawal in the eighth century for the Sun deity, but in the fourteenth century it was transformed into the Kalika Temple. This old temple is a superb example of Pratihara Period architecture. The Kalika Mata Temple draws tourists and art enthusiasts both, as well as those with a preference for religion.

The Kalika Mata Temple, built on an elevated podium, has gorgeously sculpted exteriors. The temple's pillars, mandap, entryway, and ceiling all feature magnificent, complex sculptures. However, when Allaudin Khilji stormed Chittorgarh, a large portion of its splendour was destroyed.

Architecture and History of the temple :

Kalika Mata Temple was built in the fourteenth century. According to legend, Bappa Rawal constructed a temple for the Sun God here in the eighth century, and it is now located across from Padmini Palace. After Allaudin Khilji's invasion, this shrine was demolished. Later, in the 14th century, Rana Hammir Singh rebuilt and refurbished the temple to become Kalika Mata Temple. This temple, which honours Goddess Kali, is a masterpiece of architecture.

Between Padmini Palace and Victory Tower is where the temple is located. There is a sizable empty space on the temple property where "Ratri Jagrans," or night vigils, are organised. The entrance gate to the Kalika Mata temple, which is perched on a rocky outcrop, faces east. The Jogeshwar Mahadev Shrine, a shrine to Lord Shiva, is also part of the temple complex. The temple was initially constructed for the Sun God. The walls of this temple's inner Sanctum therefore show the Sun God accompanied by his spouse and angels. The Moon God is also shown on the painted inside walls of the temple. The tops of the rooftops are narrowed and intricately carved. The Sun God is the principal subject of the carvings on the main doors' frames. The
