Why to visit Chennai Sangamam

The Pongal season coincides with the Chennai Sangamam, a big outdoor Tamil celebration. The event is organised by the Tamil Maiyam and the Tamil Nadu Government's Department of Tourism and Culture with the goal of revitalising historic village festivals, art, and artists. It takes place in open spaces like as beaches and parks and features traditional folk events, martial arts, and classical dance, to name a few. The event, which hosts over 4,000 performances each year, attracts around 2,000 performers. Furthermore, the event showcases the best of South Indian cuisine, from delectable panirayams to the classic Pongal.

Special Tip

Because this festival takes place in January, it is the greatest time to visit.
