Why to visit Washington Monument

It is the tallest building in Washington, D.C., standing at 555 feet. Based on the National Park Service's measurement, that height was determined. For most of its existence, the Washington Monument has had a functional elevator of some form. However, more than 10,000 people ascended the then-over 900-step staircase before it was formally unveiled. The majority of the 36,000 stones that made up the Washington Monument came from local quarries, and 193 of them did as well. Every year, more than 500,000 people take in the breathtaking view from the summit of the Washington Monument.
