Why to visit Tumburu Teertham

Thumburu Theertham, 12 kilometres from Tirumala and 7 kilometres from Papavinasanam, tells the narrative of a gandharva who condemned his wife for her idleness. According to mythology, the lady transformed into a toad who had to survive in the pond until sage Agasthya and his followers arrived. The toad regained her Gandharva form while the great sage was describing the divinity of the pond to his followers, and thus this teertham started. It is a 7-kilometer stony route hike from Papa Vinasanam to Kalyani Dam point. Every year on Palguna Poornima in the month of March, the road is generally available to the public. On the road to this location, there are around five waterfalls.

Special Tip

Because there is no food or drink available on the way to this location, you should bring some with you.
