Why to visit Amirthi Zoological Park
Amirthi Zoological Park is located across the Amirthi River from Tellai's Javadu hills, 27 kilometres from Vellore Town Railway Station. The zoo park was built in 1967 and has a 25 acre footprint. The Amirthi River, which flows close to the park, inspired its name.
The waterfalls, swing, and animal habitats in this park are well-known. The opposite half of this jungle is being developed as a wildlife refuge, while the first half has been cleared to be a tourist destination. Amirthi Falls, a small cascading seasonal fall, is fully visible after a one-kilometer hike in the park. In the monsoon, visitors can have fun and swim in the pool created by the falls.
Spotted deer, mongooses, hedgehogs, foxes, love birds, red-headed parrots, tortoises, peacocks, crocodiles, wild cats, eagles, ducks, pigeons, wild parrots, rabbits, and pythons are some of the animals that may be seen in the park. The Park is home to a variety of medicinal and herbal plants.
