Why to visit Thrissur Zoo
The Thrissur Zoo was founded in 1885, making it one of India's oldest zoos. It covers 13.5 acres of land and is home to a variety of animals, birds, reptiles, insects, and other creatures. The zoo is rich with flora and provides a really relaxing environment. It is located in the city's core and is only a two-minute walk from the main town.
Bengal tigers, Asiatic lions, spotted deers, hippopotamuses, multiple species of monkeys, camels, alligators, leopards, sloth bears, lion tailed macaques, and hundreds of bird species, including exquisite pink flamingos, pelicans, and peacocks, are among the wildlife that may be seen here. One of the zoo's most notable features is its specialised snake park.
The zoo is a terrific educational experience for youngsters because they can not only see rare wild animals up close, but they can also read and learn about them owing to the different placards placed throughout the zoo, each one outlining each animal's species. The animals here appear to be highly photogenic, and some even seem to like posing for pictures!
The zoo also has a botanical garden where rare and exotic species, as well as some common ones, are on show. Several trees line the paths inside the park, which is similar to Bangalore's Lal Bagh, and one may easily spend a peaceful afternoon picnicking here.
