Welcome to Sydney's Royal Botanic Garden, a 30-hectare oasis in the midst of the city. The Gardens, which are wrapped around Sydney Harbour, are in one of Sydney's most stunning locations. It is the country's oldest scientific institution, dating back to 1816, and houses a remarkable collection of Australian and international flora.
The themed garden areas display the different beauties of nature, from the provocative rare and threatened species of the globe to the beautiful rose garden. Among the unique features are: Cadi Jam Ora - First Encounters is a garden installation that commemorates and honours the Cadigal, Sydney's first occupants, and their relationship with the land.

This garden can be reached by train; the nearest station is Martin Place. St James and Circular Quay are two other stations close to the Royal Botanic Gardens. On weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the 441 (Balmain via QVB Building) bus departs from York Street, Town Hall and stops outside the Art Gallery of NSW. The Royal Botanic Gardens are also on the route of the Sydney Explorer Bus, and the 200 (Chatswood to Bondi) stops in Macquarie Street.
