Why to visit Porcine
Porcine is much more than a French bistro perched atop a liquor store. It's a shrine to the humble swine, a place where pork lovers may pay their respects and gorge themselves on dishes of snout-to-tail delicacy. Porcine is a pleasant addition to Paddington's eating scene, combining French classics with laid-back British pub atmosphere.
On paper (or chalkboard), the changeable menu may appear scary — sliced tongue, complete pig's head terrine, black pudding – but it's the polar opposite on the mouth. The efficient kitchen produces dry-aged duck, entire roast fish, and, if it's your fortunate day, a scallop vol-au-vent that will change your mind about vol-au-vents, in addition to breaking down one Berkshire pig carcass per week from Dubbo's Extraordinary Pork. You'll want to go all out at this neighbourhood newcomer, thanks to an all-star ensemble that includes Nik Hill (The Old Fitz), Harry Levy (Don Peppino's), and Matt Fitzgerald (Solotel Group).
