Why to visit Glebe Market
The 200 stalls that take up Glebe Public School every Saturday morning provide a wide range of goods, but it's the fashion stalls that draw the most attention. Along with handcrafted jewellery, accessories, and fresh clothing produced by locals, there are rows upon rows of unique and colourful vintage apparel.
Vintage stalls can be found throughout the market, but the tiny part just off Derby Lane at the back of the school is a gold mine and a slightly quieter place to browse racks and try things on. Muns Vintage, a treasure mine of recycled textiles transformed into new outfits, is located here.
Old market favourites and more high-end offerings can be found in the lane of food stalls just opposite the lawn: gözleme, kebabs, dumplings, fancy doughnuts, gluten-free baked goods, and tandoori chicken wraps from the Madras Cuisine stall, which has been a part of the markets for more than two decades. Best of all, the Citrus Factory serves freshly squeezed, made-to-order lemonade.
