Why to visit Deolali Camp, Nashik
The town is known for its clean, fresh air, which is recommended for stress relief and rehabilitation. It also has many health resorts and sanatoriums. Deolali Camp and its environs are ideal for anyone going through a difficult mental phase, recovering from a painful disease, or simply seeking a tranquil retreat. There are some temples, nice shopping and eating options, and a famous Buddhist cave called Pandavleni Caves, in addition to the traffic-free, tree-lined bylanes, carpets of lush green grass, and an atmosphere that feels wonderful to breathe.
Deolali camp is a cantonment set up by the British in 1861. It was initially the place where Army Staff College was located which now has been converted into the Defence Services Staff College of India and the Command and Staff College of Pakistan. Because of being a full army residential area, the place has remained neat and clean, safe, disciplined and most importantly aesthetic over the years.
Deolali Camp is a modest hill station located away from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding cities. The greenery of Sahyadri has also left its mark in this little, remote town. Since the days of the British, this famous weekend hideaway around 150 kilometres from big cities like Mumbai and Pune has been a significant military centre. It is, in reality, one of the country's oldest army cantonments.
