Why to visit Koodal Azhagar Temple
The Koodal Azhagar Temple, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, is a unique and well-known temple of historical significance built in the Dravidian style of architecture and allegedly established by the Pandyas. Vishnu is known as Koodal Alagar and his consort Lakshmi is known as Mathuravalli. Koodal is another name for Madurai, and Azghar means 'beautiful one' in Tamil. The towering temple imposes itself in the eyes of the beholder, beautifully sculpted and carved with many shades of colour.
With Lord Vishnu as the principal deity in the form of Sri Koodal Azhagar, this temple is one of the 108 Divyadesams and lies on the 65th place.
