Why to visit Alagar Koil

Alagar Koil is a beautiful temple on Madurai's northwestern outskirts.

It is also known as Azhagarkovil and is located in the Alagar hills. The Lord's statue is totally formed of stone and is a magnificent work of art created from kallalgar. The ideal type of separate temples in southern India consists of a range of statues in various poses of the Lord housed in the temple under the same roof.

H73 Lord Vishnu is revered by the people of the region as a wise, humble, yet mighty king and ruler of the earth. Devotees pray for the salvation of the world from the depths of their souls. The temple features magnificent halls and other facilities for performing various ceremonies using sacred mantras in the holy of holies.
