Why to visit Haat Bazaar
Haat Bazaar is a well-known market centre in Kalimpong, located 500 metres from the Kalimpong Bus Station. It is a major shopping area and one of the best sites to visit in Kalimpong, and it is located in the city centre.
Every Wednesday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6.30 p.m., Haat Bazaar is a bustling local village market. It is accessible via Kalimpong's Rishi Road. Villagers from the surrounding districts gather here to sell their wares and set up stalls. The market is quite popular, and visitors can sample authentic regional flavours.
Locals and tourists alike look forward to market days every week, a time when the city comes together and comes alive, as part of Kalimpong's local tradition. On one side of the street, the market sells garments, umbrellas, and bags, while on the other, it sells fruits, vegetables, local and agricultural food, and spices. Because the market is fairly popular, much of the nice things is usually sold out by the time you arrive, it's best to arrive early in the morning. At Haat Bazaar, one can also sample some delectable local dishes.
