Why to visit Jal Mahal
One of India's most popular subjects for photographs is the Jal Mahal Palace in Jaipur. It offers a magnificent view of Man Sagar Lake and it's bordering Nahargarh hills. The only way to get there is by boat, as the palace is still submerged in a lake.
Boat trips and access to the royal grounds are currently prohibited because the government has designated the palace as a protected site. Yet, from the side of the lake, you can spend hours admiring and taking pictures of the palace.
Architecture
- It is a five-story building constructed in the Rajput architectural style, which was influenced by Mughal design.
- The palace appears to be floating on the lake's waves because all four of its stories are still submerged and only the top floor is still visible.
- On the palace's top, there is a sizable rectangular chhatri constructed in Bengali style.
Evening at Jal Mahal
The palace is briefly illuminated every evening, and the contrast between the lit-up palace and the lake's ominous waters is very breathtaking.
