Why to visit Gangtok Ropeway

The twin cable zig zag ropeway, which opened in 2003, can carry up to 24 passengers and travels a distance of 2 kilometres back and forth. The cable cars are usually packed, so you'll have to wait in line, but the breathtaking vistas of the Kanchenjunga peaks are well worth the wait. Also, because there are no seats inside the cable car, you will have to try to get in first to have a good view standing seat (next to the glass pane). The aerial ropeway is 935 metres long from beginning to end, and it takes 15 to 20 minutes to complete the tour. Tashiling, Namnang, and Deorali are the three terminus stations. At any of the three stops, you can board or disembark.

Special Tip

Due to the possibility of the ropeway not operating due to inclement weather, avoid going during the monsoon season.
