Why to visit Namgyal Monastery

The Dalai Lama, Tibet's spiritual leader, is said to reside in Namgyal Monastery in Mcleodganj, the world's largest Tibetan temple outside Tibet. Because it is the personal monastery of the 14th Dalai Lama, the Namgyal Monastery is often referred to as "Dalai Lama's Temple."

The second Dalai Lama lay the foundation for Namgyal Monastery in the 16th century, and it was established for the monks to assist the Dalai Lama in religious matters. The monks who live here perform activities for Tibet's well-being and serve as a centre for learning and meditation on Buddhist philosophical explanation. It is also known as Namgyal Tantric College, and it currently houses 200 monks who aim to preserve the traditions and talents of Tantric Buddhism.

Though the monastery's exterior construction is not particularly regal, once inside, it exudes a wonderful atmosphere. It broadens your horizons while also assisting you in contemplating the meaning of life. The Namgyal Monastery's interior is adorned with paintings, sculptures, and images of Lord Buddha and other Buddhist icons.
