Why to visit St. John in the Wilderness

In the valley of McLeodganj, lies a beautiful Anglican church hiding among the Deodar trees. Built in 1852, this place serves as one the best spot for pictures and will also calm your mood. The church is known to attract a lot of visitors almost every day and especially on Sundays. On the outside, the gifted Belgian stained glass windows are the magnum opus of the church while on the inside, the polished wood of the altar railing and old brass oil lamps which are now converted into electric light holders, make it very appealing. while walking on the footpath, the holy cross symbols are artistically made with colorful stones that will surely fill up your gallery. the security guards look after the church to ensure no damage is done.

Special Tip

Try visiting on Sunday at 11 AM for Hindi prayers and 10 AM for English.
