Why to visit International Dolls Museum
The International Dolls Museum was founded in 1985 by the Chandigarh authorities in partnership with the Chandigarh Rotary Club. The Indian Council of Child Welfare, Chandigarh, oversees the museum's operations. It was created with the intention of entertaining the children. It includes 250 various types of dolls and puppets from nations such as Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Russia, and Korea, among others.
International dolls, Indian dolls, Activity Corner, and History of Dolls are the four parts of the museum. The Indian dolls were collected from all throughout the country and dressed up in regional outfits that reflect the culture and way of life in that location. Dolls depicting popular fairy-tale characters such as Aladdin, Ali Baba, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White are also featured in this section.
The exhibition of dolls is set against ten murals of major locations from various countries, each with coloured blowups. The International Dolls Museum, which began as a children's amusement centre, has grown into a prominent tourist destination in the city. Apart from its stunning doll collection, it also has a children's amusement park and toy railways.
Adults must pay INR 10 to enter the museum, while carrying a camera to this location costs INR 5.
Special Tip
The museum is closed on Sundays and National Holidays.
