Why to visit Government Museum and Art Gallery

The museum, which opened in August 1947, is recognised for its extensive collection of paintings, antiquities, and sculptures. Furthermore, its one-of-a-kind architecture, created by Le Corbusier, is widely regarded. The museum was launched on May 6, 1968, by Dr MS Randhawa, the then-chief commissioner of Lahore. This institution's aim is to promote understanding of art's inherent virtues and to bring it closer to people's lives through interpretation of its extensive collection and innovative initiatives. It is located in the town's centre and has a view of the Shivalik hills in the background. It may provide you with in-depth education in the form of Gandharan sculptures, Pahari and Rajasthani miniature paintings if you visit.

Special Tip

A guided tour can be requested in advance at the museum. Guided tours are available in Hindi, English, and French.
