Why to visit Sarkhej Roza
Located 7 km South West of Ahmedabad, the sacred site is one of the striking monument that includes a mosque, mausoleums, palace, tank and pavilions. When eminent Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier visited Sarkhej Roza, he compared it to the Acropolis of Athens.
Sarkhej Roza is one of Ahmedabad's most gorgeous and unique architectural complexes. Sarkhej Roza's architecture exemplifies the region's early Islamic architectural culture, which blended Persia's Islamic artistic influences with local Hindu and Jain traits to create a composite "Indo-Saracenic" architectural style. Sarkhej Roza's architectural style is a true blend of Hindu, Jain, and Islamic influences, and it predates the Mughal period. The Islamic concept of geometry and scale was placed on Hindu craftsmanship and construction know-how. The Roza Complex in Sarkhej was constructed at the start of the Sultanate period.
