Why to visit Sabarmati Riverfront
In 2005, the cityscape and the river Sabarmati were revitalised, resulting in the construction of the Sabarmati Riverfront, a 22-kilometer planned promenade of which only a portion is currently complete. Along the river, boating stations and pop-up exhibition spaces are being created, but it is fitness aficionados who give the path its due on regular walks and jogs. The Sabarmati River is crossed by eleven bridges that connect the old and new areas of the city. The Ellis Bridge, which was erected in 1873, is the oldest of these. It was a wooden construction that was flooded and then rebuilt for use.
Special Tip
You could just take a walk along the pristine paved roads, as you navigate your way through nimble cyclists and joggers
