Bai Harir ni Vav is 15 kilometres from Ahmedabad's city centre. Built in 1499, this step-well Even on the hottest days, the depths remain cool, and it's a fascinating and scary area. The top of the overflow canals are a remnant of times when water tables were much higher than they are now. The 16th-century Dai Halima Mosque, located behind the step-well, is the mausoleum of a royal midwife named Halima, complete with magnificent jali screens.
