Why to visit Agra Fort

Agra Fort was a major fort during the Mughal era and is still one of the best locations to visit in Agra today. Emperor Akbar built this massive fort in 1556 and then restored it in 1573 with red sandstone, covering an area of 3,80,000 square metres. The fort, located 2.2 kilometres from Agra, is a true fortress, with walls rising to a height of 70 feet around it. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it's about 2.5 miles from Taj Mahal. Agra Fort, also known as Lal –Qila, Fort Rouge, or Qila-i-Akbari, is a landmark of Agra and is so large that it is frequently referred to be a walled city.

Special Tip

Do not leave trash in the fort's grounds.
