The Solan brewery, one of the country's oldest, was founded in 1855 and has since been transformed into a distillery. It was founded by Edward Dyer, an Englishman, as Dyer Breweries, and is presently managed by Mohan Meaking Ltd. This is a short distance from the Solan railway station.
