Why to visit Savitri Temple

Enjoy a beautiful view of both sunrise and sunset from the mountaintop when visiting the Savitri temple. The temple's surroundings are so appealing that you could sit here for hours appreciating nature's magnificence. This place has an intriguing narrative that attracts pilgrims. The temple is claimed to be built on the site where Goddess Savitri once rested after being enraged by her husband's marriage to another woman. If you trek to the temple, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding area, including the Pushkar Lake and the huge Thar Desert.

It was said that Lord Brahma was once undertaking a Yagna on the banks of the Pushkar Lake, which necessitated the presence of Goddess Savitri. However, because she was late and the sacred moment had passed, Brahma married another girl to finish the rite. When the Goddess came, she was enraged to see that someone else had taken her position, and she cursed everyone in the room. She afterwards travelled to the Ratnagiri hills to make a sacrifice for her actions and transformed into a river. Following this tragedy, a temple was built in her honour, and you can still see a tiny stream running alongside the temple.

Climbing to the top of the hill is difficult, but it is thought that the more you work, the more 'Tapas' you will gain. The idols of Lord Brahma's two wives, Savitri and Gayatri, may be found in this temple. However, according to tradition, Goddess Savitri is always worshipped first, followed by prayers to Goddess Gayatri. Visitors can either hike to the temple gates or ride in the cable cars that transport guests to the temple. The ropeway ride is a lot of fun, and from there you can get a great perspective of Pushkar. Many devotees, on the other hand, choose to climb the 200 stairs to the shrine, which they regard as an important element of their trip to the site.

Special Tip

The temple remains open on all days of the week but to avoid crowd, the best timing to visit the temple is between 5:00 am to 12:00 pm. However, there are no entry fees to visit the temple, but if you prefer cable cars over trekking, then it costs INR 90 approx per person.
